Our History and Legacy

Crowley Honor Choir was founded in the autumn of 2001 by Kathy Chiles, who’d already spent 30 years shaping singers and changing lives. The superintendent of Crowley Independent School District appealed to her to recreate the astounding success she’d had with other choirs in his own backyard. He wanted Kathy to work her magic on his daughter and her peers. Thus, a legacy was born!

CHC is about helping children find their voices and their power through music. To date, nearly 2,000 young people have been transformed by the magic of being part of this ensemble. This accomplished company performs fully staged musicals and traditional choral repertoire all over the country at concerts, events, and invitationals…all to rave reviews.

Since Kathy's retirement in 2018, the choir has been under the baton of several talented conductors, culminating with our current artistic director, Jennifer Everwine, who joined the choir in 2022. Her exceptional musicianship, charismatic leadership and approachable style has made rehearsals and performances a true joy for the students.

As we approach our twenty-second season, it's the hope of the CHC leadership that the students continue to grow not only as musicians but as young people who can make a positive changes in our schools, homes, and communities by lifting our voices and uniting our hearts!
